What is Answer Engine Optimization, actually?

Answer engine optimization (AEO) is the practice of structuring your content, data, and digital footprint so that AI-powered answer engines treat you as the credible source on the topics you care about.

The mechanics are different from classic SEO. Classic SEO optimizes a page to rank in a list of ten links. AEO optimizes the entire information environment around your brand — your pages, the third-party content that mentions you, the structured data that describes you, and the entity associations that link you to your topic — so that a large language model assembling an answer reaches for your information first.

In practical terms, AEO blends:

How is AEO different from SEO?

At Generate More, we draw a clear line between the two: SEO optimises a page to rank in a list of links, while AEO optimises a brand to be cited inside an AI-generated answer. The two overlap — strong SEO foundations help AEO, and a lot of AEO work ends up improving classic search performance as a bonus — but the goal, the deliverables, and the way you measure success are genuinely different.

If your reporting still ends at "rankings" and "organic sessions," you're measuring the wrong thing for 2026.

How long does it take to see AEO results?
