HubSpot AEO is HubSpot’s answer engine optimization tool, currently in beta. It tracks how ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity mention and cite your brand across a set of prompts, then turns the gaps into recommendations and one-click blog drafts[\[1\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-1).

The standalone tracker costs $50 a month for 25 prompts. Blog generation from its recommendations needs Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise[\[2\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-2), and each generated article uses 1,000 HubSpot Credits, or $10[\[3\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-3).

**Best features:** native integration with the HubSpot CMS and marketing suite, MCP access so the work can happen in Claude or another AI assistant, and a genuinely helpful onboarding call with a HubSpot rep.

**Biggest limitations:** pricing that does not compete with best-of-breed AEO tools, a thin feature set built around citations and brand mentions, and dashboards that deliver little value unless you also pay for article generation.

**Verdict:** Of the more than 40 AI search visibility tools I have tested, HubSpot AEO has the most basic feature set. For small and mid-sized companies it carries the highest total cost of ownership in the category. It makes sense for larger companies already paying for Marketing Hub Enterprise, especially where IT would rather not approve software outside HubSpot. Everyone else should look at the [alternatives](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#hubspot-aeo-alternatives) first.

## My Hubspot AEO video review

---

## What you get

HubSpot AEO runs a fixed list of prompts through three answer engines every day and records what comes back. The base allowance is 25 prompts, each run daily across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, for 2,500 answers a month[\[4\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-4). From those answers it reports brand visibility and sentiment, competitor share of voice, citation analysis, prompt suggestions and a prioritised list of recommendations[\[1\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-1).

The engine list is narrower than most of the category. Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Claude and Microsoft Copilot sit outside it. Otterly already tracks Google AI Overviews and Copilot on its $29 entry plan[\[5\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-5), and Promptwatch lets you choose from a longer list that includes Google, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek and Grok[\[6\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-6).

You do not need a HubSpot subscription to use the tracker. HubSpot states that AEO works regardless of where your website is hosted, and the free tier tracks 25 prompts with no credit card[\[1\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-1).

---

## How I tested it

I ran HubSpot AEO for several weeks on the Generate More website, which already sits on HubSpot CMS. I set it up with Finnish-language prompts, partly to see how visible we are in our home market and partly because non-English tracking is where many tools get thin.

The first week produced a visibility score, a citation breakdown that included social platforms such as Reddit and LinkedIn, and a list of recommended next steps. When I walked through the product with HubSpot, they were explicit that AEO is built to feed HubSpot’s content management system. The “Generate blog post” button next to each recommendation is the centre of the product, and everything else leads towards it.

---

## What HubSpot AEO does well

### Integration with the HubSpot CMS and marketing suite

The integration is the strongest reason to choose HubSpot AEO. Recommendations, drafts and publishing all happen in the same portal, so a gap spotted in the AEO dashboard can become a blog draft in the HubSpot editor without an export or a copy-paste step. Content Agent pulls the recommendation’s keyword and competitive context into the draft, and HubSpot says it applies your brand voice as it writes[\[2\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-2). On Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise, CRM data also feeds the recommendations, which HubSpot says makes them more specific to your business[\[1\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-1).

### MCP access for working in Claude

I do most of my HubSpot work from Claude, and HubSpot supports that. Its remote MCP server connects Claude and any other MCP-compatible AI tool to a HubSpot account, with access to CRM records plus blog posts, landing pages, website pages and campaign metrics[\[7\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-7). For a team that already drafts and edits with an AI assistant, HubSpot becomes one more source the assistant can read and act on.

### An onboarding call that helps

HubSpot booked an onboarding call with a rep who wanted the product to work for us. Most AI visibility vendors hand you a login and a help centre. The rep walked through the setup, explained where HubSpot sees AEO going, and took feedback seriously, which matters for a beta product that is still changing.

---

## Where HubSpot AEO falls short

### Price is not competitive with best-of-breed tools

The $50 entry price buys tracking only. Content generation from AEO recommendations runs on HubSpot’s Content Agent, which requires Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise[\[2\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-2). HubSpot’s AEO page frames the upgrade the same way, noting that with Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise “content creation tools are built in”[\[1\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-1).

Marketing Hub Professional costs $800 a month on an annual commitment or $890 paid monthly. That includes three core seats, 25 AEO prompts and 3,000 HubSpot Credits a month, and HubSpot adds a required one-time Professional Onboarding fee of $3,000[\[4\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-4). Credits cost $0.01 each, sold in packs of 1,000 for $10, and unused included credits expire at the end of each month[\[8\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-8). The product catalog prices Content Agent at 1,000 credits for each piece of content it generates[\[3\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-3). HubSpot’s Manage HubSpot Credits[\[13\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-13) article explains how to set a monthly credit limit for individual tools and monitor usage by feature, which is worth doing before you let Content Agent loose.

Here is what year one looks like on each HubSpot route.

| Route | Year-one cost | What you get |
| --- | --- | --- |
| HubSpot AEO standalone | $540 (annual billing) | 25 prompts, 3 engines, no article generation |
| HubSpot AEO via Marketing Hub Pro | $12,600 before any article credits | 25 prompts, 3 engines, Content Agent drafts at $10 each |

The per-article fee is small next to the licence. Ten articles a month adds at most $1,200 a year, and less when the included credits go unused elsewhere in the portal. The barrier is the $12,600 floor you pay before the first draft exists. For comparison, Promptwatch Professional costs $2,940 a year for 150 prompts and five AEO articles a month[\[6\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-6).

### A limited feature set

The product mostly shows citations and brand mentions, with little detail behind either. Every metric on the dashboard populated within the first week, and the numbers sat in a plausible range against what I see for Generate More in other tools. What is missing is the layer that turns a number into a decision.

The recommendations sit at a high level and seldom name a concrete target. Superlines, by comparison, filed a pitch to a named editorial site along with the citation count that justified it ([my Superlines review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/superlines-best-ai-search-visibility-solution-you-havent-heard-about?hsLang=en-us)). The HubSpot dashboard shows where you stand and offers little depth on why, and “why” is the question that decides what to do next. Tools like [Peec AI](https://generatemore.ai/blog/peec-ai-review?hsLang=en-us), [Profound](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-profound-ai-search-visibility-review-for-saas-/-tech?hsLang=en-us) and [Promptwatch](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-promptwatch-review?hsLang=en-us) go considerably further on that front.

### The dashboards depend on article generation

Take away the functionality to generate new blog articles and very little value is left. On its own, the tracker tells you which prompts you appear in and which sources get cited, and then hands the next step back to you with little guidance on what to do. HubSpot designed the product around Content Agent, so the analysis exists mainly to feed it. In practice that means the $50 tier works as a preview, and the useful version of HubSpot AEO is the one that comes bundled with Marketing Hub Professional.

---

## Where HubSpot AEO is cost effective

The economics change for large teams already on Marketing Hub Enterprise. That tier starts at $3,600 a month and includes 50 AEO prompts and 5,000 HubSpot Credits in the subscription[\[4\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-4). For a company already paying it, the first 50 prompts add nothing to the bill, and five generated articles a month fit inside the included credits. Specialist enterprise licences are usually quoted individually; Profound lists its Enterprise plan as custom pricing through sales[\[9\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-9).

Procurement strengthens the case. In a large organisation, every new vendor has to clear a security review before anyone can log in, and that approval can take months. A tool that lives inside the CRM the company already runs skips all of that, and for some teams the saved months matter more than analytical depth.

---

## Who should use HubSpot AEO

The right buyer is quite specific. It is a larger company that has consolidated its marketing inside HubSpot, whose IT team prefers to keep software inside the core CRM, and which is comfortable automating blog content without a human editorial process.

I would not recommend that last part to anyone planning for sustainable growth. In my experience, the content answer engines keep citing carries original data, a clear point of view and expertise that is hard to find elsewhere. A fully automated draft built from a recommendation any competitor can also generate rarely carries those. Most companies I work with either write with professional editors or use ChatGPT or Claude inside a process tuned to their buyer persona, and both routes produce better material than an unedited $10 draft.

For small and mid-sized companies, a best-of-breed tracker is the better buy today. If you already run HubSpot, keep the beta on your radar and look again in a few months.

## HubSpot AEO alternatives

Each of the tools below does at least one job better than HubSpot AEO, and most of them start at a lower price. I have tested all five myself, and the full reviews are linked in the table.

| Tool | Entry price | Prompts at entry | Engines | What sets it apart | Full review |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| HubSpot AEO | $50/mo | 25 | 3 fixed: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity | Native HubSpot CMS integration, Content Agent drafts on Marketing Hub Pro | This article |
| Promptwatch[\[6\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-6) | $95/mo | 50 | 4, chosen from 8+ | MCP and API on every plan, AEO articles and a knowledge base from Professional, AI crawler logs | [My Promptwatch review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-promptwatch-review?hsLang=en-us) |
| Peec AI[\[14\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-14) | €89/mo | 50 | 3 of your choice | Visibility, position and sentiment, source analysis at domain and URL level, unlimited users | [My Peec AI review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/peec-ai-review?hsLang=en-us) |
| Superlines[\[12\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-12) | €79/mo | 50 | Any 3, up to 10 on Enterprise | Action Center, MCP on every plan, unlimited countries, languages, competitors and seats | [My Superlines review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/superlines-best-ai-search-visibility-solution-you-havent-heard-about?hsLang=en-us) |
| Profound[\[9\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-9) | Custom (Enterprise) | Custom | Up to 9, incl. Copilot, Claude and AI Overviews | Enterprise controls: SSO/SAML, SOC 2, API, credit-based agents | [My Profound review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-profound-ai-search-visibility-review-for-saas-/-tech?hsLang=en-us) |
| Otterly[\[5\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-5) | $29/mo | 15 | 4: ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot | Lowest entry price, API and MCP from the Standard plan | [My Otterly review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/otterly-ai-review?hsLang=en-us) |

### Promptwatch

Promptwatch is the closest match to what HubSpot is trying to build. It pairs tracking with AEO article generation, five articles a month on the $245 Professional plan and ten on Business, and it ships MCP and API access on every plan[\[6\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-6). Choose it if you want the track-then-write loop without moving your whole stack into HubSpot. My full hands-on test is in [my Promptwatch review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-promptwatch-review?hsLang=en-us).

### Peec AI

For clean competitive measurement, Peec AI is the one I reach for. It reports visibility, position and sentiment side by side, and its source analysis separates the pages that informed an answer from the URLs an engine explicitly mentioned[\[10\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-10). Every plan includes unlimited users, and the Advanced plan adds multi-country tracking and a Looker Studio connector[\[11\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-11). I go through the platform in more depth in [my Peec AI review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/peec-ai-review?hsLang=en-us).

### Superlines

At €79 a month, Superlines includes the Action Center, an MCP server on the entry plan and unlimited country and language tracking[\[12\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-12). The Action Center carries the most weight, because it turns findings into assignable tasks covering off-page work such as media outreach. [My Superlines review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/superlines-best-ai-search-visibility-solution-you-havent-heard-about?hsLang=en-us) has the full breakdown.

### Profound

Large teams with security requirements tend to end up at Profound. Its Enterprise plan tracks up to nine answer engines and adds SSO/SAML, SOC 2 compliance, API access and full data history, with pricing quoted by sales[\[9\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-9). It is the natural comparison for a company weighing HubSpot AEO on Marketing Hub Enterprise, and [my Profound review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-profound-ai-search-visibility-review-for-saas-/-tech?hsLang=en-us) looks at how it performs for SaaS and B2B tech brands.

### Otterly

Otterly is the cheapest serious way to start tracking. The $29 Lite plan covers 15 prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, and the $189 Standard plan adds API and MCP access[\[5\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-5). If all you want from HubSpot AEO is a first read on your visibility, Otterly covers more engines for less. You can read the details in [my Otterly review](https://generatemore.ai/blog/otterly-ai-review?hsLang=en-us).

---

## What to expect next

HubSpot has the resources to close this gap quickly. I expect the feature set to improve steadily through the beta, and I would not be surprised to see HubSpot acquire one of the more sophisticated AEO tools to catch up with the specialists. For now, HubSpot AEO is a reasonable tracker attached to a very expensive licence.

Frequently asked questions

## HubSpot AEO FAQ

How much does HubSpot AEO cost?

The standalone plan is $50 a month, or $45 a month billed annually, for 25 prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity[\[1\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-1). Generating blog posts from its recommendations requires Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, and each post uses 1,000 HubSpot Credits, or $10[\[3\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-3).

Do I need a HubSpot subscription to use HubSpot AEO?

Tracking works without one[\[1\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-1). The Content Agent features that write blog posts from AEO recommendations require Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise[\[2\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-2).

Which AI engines does HubSpot AEO track?

ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity[\[1\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-1). Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Claude and Copilot are not included.

Is there a free version of HubSpot AEO?

Yes. You can track 25 prompts in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini for free, with no credit card required[\[1\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-1).

Can I control how many HubSpot Credits AEO content uses?

Yes. HubSpot lets you set a maximum monthly credit limit for individual tools and track usage by feature, as described in its Manage HubSpot Credits[\[13\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-13) article.

How many prompts does Marketing Hub include?

Marketing Hub Professional includes 25 prompts and Marketing Hub Enterprise includes 50, each run daily across three engines. More capacity is available through the AEO Answers Limit Increase add-on[\[4\]](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#source-4).

What are the best HubSpot AEO alternatives?

Promptwatch, Peec AI, Superlines, Profound and Otterly are the five I recommend most often. Promptwatch is closest in scope because it also generates AEO articles, Superlines and Otterly are the lowest-cost entry points, Peec AI is strongest on clean competitive measurement, and Profound fits large enterprises. See the [comparison table](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-hubspot-aeo-review-what-you-get-and-alternatives-in-2026#hubspot-aeo-alternatives) above.

Is HubSpot AEO worth it for a small business?

For tracking alone, the free tier is a sensible way to get a first read. For tracking plus content, the Marketing Hub Professional requirement puts year one above $12,600, and specialist tools such as [Otterly](https://generatemore.ai/blog/otterly-ai-review?hsLang=en-us), [Superlines](https://generatemore.ai/blog/superlines-best-ai-search-visibility-solution-you-havent-heard-about?hsLang=en-us) and [Promptwatch](https://generatemore.ai/blog/my-promptwatch-review?hsLang=en-us) deliver more analysis for a fraction of that.
