I tested Semrush's AI visibility tracking for a B2B software company in October 2025, and updated this review on 23 October 2026 after Adobe completed its acquisition of Semrush. I have removed the old 1–5 scores, which dated quickly, and replaced them with what has changed and who I think Semrush fits today. ## My view in October 2026: an SEO suite moving upmarket inside Adobe Semrush is now part of Adobe. Adobe [announced the deal on 19 November 2025](https://www.semrush.com/news/435826-adobe-to-acquire-semrush/), valuing Semrush at about $1.9 billion in cash ($12 a share), and [completed it in April 2026](https://news.adobe.com/news/2026/04/adobe-completes-semrush-acquisition). Adobe calls Semrush "a leading brand visibility platform" and is combining it with Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe LLM Optimizer and the rest of Adobe CX Enterprise, its customer experience offering. My expectation is that Semrush now moves toward enterprise buyers and away from small businesses. Adobe's completion release says the combination will serve "marketers at every scale, from small businesses to global enterprises", yet the deal logic points upmarket. The original announcement highlighted 33% year-over-year ARR growth in Semrush's enterprise segment and customers such as Amazon, JPMorganChase and TikTok, and Adobe's own customer base is large companies. I would expect the roadmap to follow those customers. That is my reading of the deal; Adobe has not announced any change for smaller customers. AI search is also not the core of what Semrush sells. Its [pricing page](https://www.semrush.com/pricing/) leads with SEO, and AI visibility arrives bundled with SEO from the Starter tier upwards. In my own work I have seen little of Semrush in the AI search visibility market in 2026, where specialist trackers have set the pace on features. ## What Semrush's AI visibility costs in October 2026 Semrush has repackaged its plans since my test, when the AI SEO toolkit was a $99 add-on with 10 prompts per engine. The pricing page lists Google Search, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini "and more" for AI visibility, wider coverage than the ChatGPT, AI Overviews and AI Mode I could track in 2025. For an existing Semrush customer the bundle is convenient, because AI visibility sits next to years of SEO history in one login. A team buying AI search tracking on its own gets more prompts and engines per dollar from a specialist tracker. ## What my October 2025 test showed I have not re-run the test in 2026, so read this section as a record of the product a year ago. The strengths came from the SEO suite underneath. Brand sentiment dashboards were as detailed as anything I had seen in specialist tools, AI traffic data through the CDN integration looked accurate, and adding several websites was quick, which suits agencies. Setup was where it broke down. When I configured a competitor, Semrush repeatedly selected a different domain from the one I chose, and it did not remember my report settings. Prompt suggestions were often off-topic: for a Finnish integration software company it recommended content about the top universities in the United States. ![Semrush AI SEO recommending irrelevant university content to a SaaS integration platform](https://generatemore.ai/hs-fs/hubfs/inaccurate%20recommendations%20semrush%20ai%20seo.png?width=1200&height=692&name=inaccurate%20recommendations%20semrush%20ai%20seo.png) Semrush recommended "Top US Universities and Colleges" content to a Finnish SaaS integration platform (October 2025) Tracking also worked at keyword level, carried over from Semrush's SEO data, while most AI visibility tools track full conversational prompts. If you already pay for Semrush, try the bundled AI tracking before buying another tool. If AI search visibility is the main job, start with a specialist tracker and keep Semrush for SEO.
