[Generate More](https://generatemore.ai/?hsLang=en-us) is a Helsinki-based AEO and AI SEO agency for Nordic and international tech companies, founded by Lari Numminen. The Startup AI Visibility Index ranks companies by how often AI answer engines cite their website. This edition covers 82 startups whose founders speak or pitch on stage at Slush 2026. The data was collected on 26 October 2026.

## Most AI-visible startups at Slush 2026

Juicebox, Tangled and Valla lead the Startup AI Visibility Index for Slush 2026. The median startup had 3 AI citations on 26 October 2026, against 175 for the median scaleup at the same event.

Three findings stand out:

- **Most startups are close to invisible.** 17 of the 75 startups we could score had no AI citations at all, and 54 (72%) had none in ChatGPT.
- **One startup broke through in ChatGPT.** Tangled went from 0 citations on 1 July 2026 to 260, and 258 of them came from ChatGPT.
- **The total fell since July.** Citations across the index dropped from 4,694 to 2,976, mostly because Juicebox went from 3,164 to 1,343.

## About Slush and why we built this edition

Slush is a not-for-profit startup event that began in Helsinki in 2008 as a 250-person gathering, and it is still organized by students and recent graduates, according to [Slush](https://slush.org/about-us). The 2026 main event takes place on 18–19 November at Messukeskus, the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre, with Investor Day at Finlandia Hall on 17 November ([event information](https://slush.org/event-info)).

The Startup index combines two public groups. The first is the companies represented in the Slush 2026 speaker lineup ([page 1](https://slush.org/audience/speakers), [page 2](https://slush.org/audience/speakers?a00549c6_page=2)) that are below Series B and have raised less than $50 million. The second is the startups presenting on Slush's [Startup Stage](https://slush.org/audience/startups/startups), which Slush describes as a stage for founders from seed to Series A.

We built this edition so that founders, investors and marketers at the event share one checkable picture of which companies AI answer engines already know. ## Why AI citations matter

When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google which companies lead a category, the answer is written from sources the AI can find and link to. A cited page shapes the description, and the company behind it gets a click path back to its own story. For a startup, it matters early: investors, candidates and first customers increasingly check a company with an AI assistant before they reply to an email.

Citation counts do not prove that AI recommends a company, and they say nothing about revenue. They do show whose website the engines are reading, which is the part of AI visibility a company controls most directly.

36 startups gained citations after 1 July 2026, and 23 lost them.

- **Juicebox**: 3,164 on 1 July, 1,343 on 26 October
- **Macromo**: 272 on 1 July, 53 on 26 October
- **Valla**: 413 on 1 July, 236 on 26 October
- **Realm**: 119 on 1 July, 31 on 26 October

## What it means for startups

A median of 3 citations means most of these startups barely exist for AI answer engines yet. That is normal for young companies, and it is also an opening. In our experience, when little has been written about a category, a few clear and specific pages can shape what an engine says about it, long before a startup has a scaleup's brand demand.

Tangled shows what that looks like in ChatGPT. Its citations come almost entirely from one engine, which suggests its pages answer a specific kind of question well. Losses work the same way in reverse: a few pages dropping out of the answers can halve a small startup's score in one quarter.

## Method

**Sample.** Companies represented by speakers in the Slush 2026 lineup below Series B and under $50 million raised, plus the Startup Stage presenters listed in the Slush 2026 meeting tool on 26 October 2026. Websites and locations for Startup Stage presenters come from their meeting tool profiles.

**Data.** For each company website we pulled the number of times AI answers cite the domain, including subdomains, from the [Ahrefs](https://ahrefs.com/) API (Site Explorer, AI responses) on 26 October 2026. The score adds up citations in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Grok. Google AI Overviews includes both of Ahrefs' AI Overview datasets, one built from prompts and one from keywords. Google AI Mode is left out, because the API reports a smaller AI Mode figure than the Ahrefs web app does. We ran the same query for 1 July 2026 to measure the change.

**Ranking.** Companies are ranked by total citations within their own index. Companies with the same total share a rank, and the table lists them alphabetically. Companies without a public website have no score and are listed after the table.

## What this index does not show

- Mentions without a link. An answer that names a company without citing its website does not count.
- The prompts behind the numbers. Ahrefs runs its own prompt set, so the score reflects that set and not the questions your buyers ask.
- Whether the description is accurate. A citation can come with an outdated or wrong summary of what the company does.
- Commercial impact. Citations are a visibility signal, and we make no claim about pipeline or revenue.
