How did I test Otterly AI? 

This test was made in October 2025. Keep in mind that these AI tools evolve rapidly, with new features being added and removed every week.

What I have written in this review today might no longer be valid 7 days later.

I have personally tested Otterly AI as part of a larger effort to test all the major AI search visibility platforms (Writesonic, Peec AI, Scalenut, GetMentioned, etc).

So, this is not an AI-generated review based on the opinions of others.
This review is based on my personal experience combined with:

- Deep research using ChatGPT to find the most accurate information about Otterly AI
- Analysis of 3 video walkthroughs showing the actual platform interface and workflow
- Review of multiple user feedback sources, including G2, Product Hunt, and industry comparisons
- Examination of the technical methodology and data collection processes


Can Otterly AI provide you with business-relevant metrics? 

To give you a helpful answer, I will be focusing on a few aspects that I consider essential as a marketer working for businesses that need to monitor their AI search visibility:

Yes. Otterly AI tracks your brand across six AI platforms in one dashboard:

I found it to be straightforward. The initial setup has 4 steps, and it's AI-assisted. The AI tool picked my niches, prompts, and competitors correctly, and I was ready to start monitoring my AI search visibility. 

Still, after a few hours using it, I find the number of table charts to be a lot, and there are some that I still need to fully understand what they mean. Otterly AI interface takes a bit longer to get completely used to.

- Does Otterly AI offer a good amount of data for its price?

I would say that Otterly's prices are average to good. Here's why: 

- It provides an AI search visibility report.
- It shows you the best pages of your competitors, so you can create similar content and gain AI visibility. 
- It shows you all the prompts where your brand is getting AI search visibility. 

Like the other AI search visibility tools, it has all the features you need. But Otterly AI's last feature gives it a lot of extra points: Its GEO audit. 

I must admit it: It's the most detailed GEO audit I have experienced so far in a Pro plan. This auditing tool positions Otterly in a more favourable price/benefit ratio.

- Does Otterly AI give accurate and trustworthy data? 

Yes, I consider Otterly AI's data to be as accurate as it could be. 

Otterly.AI relies on API web scraping techniques. This is clearly documented in their security page, which lists their key data subprocessors:

SideGuide Technologies Inaèic. (Firecrawl.dev) is listed as providing "web crawling and data extraction services."

- Does Otterly AI offer actionable tips beyond just data? 

Partially. As I showed above, the GEO Audit Tool analyzes many factors and delivers recommendations, including:

- Content optimization strategies for AI consumption
- Technical improvements for AI crawlability
- Structured data implementation guidance
- Authority signal enhancement through strategic outreach
- Content gap analysis based on competitor citations

While Otterly AI provides comprehensive data and insights, the platform remains "observational" without built-in tools for content creation or strategy execution. Your team must translate insights into actionable steps using external tools and resources.

One suggestion I would give to the Otterly AI's team: When I spot a problem in the GEO audit (For example: "Open Graphs Tag: No"), provide more detailed guidance on how to solve that issue.

This way, the user can get all that they need by staying inside Otterly, without scanning the web to understand how to do that. Or, even better: Integrate an AI solution that allows you to do that automatically.

- Does Otterly AI show you the estimated traffic from AI search engines to your business?

No. Otterly does not provide direct website traffic estimation from AI search engines; it cannot correlate citations to actual website visits; it does not provide a connection between visibility metrics and business outcomes. 

Not many AI search visibility tools can do that, so I'm not surprised. 

- Can you connect AI citations to the number of clients you receive? 

No. Otterly AI does not offer built-in, end-to-end AI referral attribution (i.e., it won't tell you "this ChatGPT mention → X visits/leads").

It's a monitoring tool for AI visibility (mentions, position, citations), not a traffic/ROI attribution platform. This is consistent across almost all AI visibility tools. 

- Does Otterly AI offer a brand's sentiment tracking? 

Otterly AI's documentation claims that the tool provides sentiment tracking as a "core feature". But when I try to find it in their dashboard, I don't see anything.

This represents either:

  • A feature that exists but is hidden/poorly designed
  • A feature that was removed, but the documentation wasn't updated
  • Marketing claims ahead of product reality 

So my answer is: No, Otterly AI does not provide a brand's sentiment tracker.

Yes, in my opinion, Otterly AI offers a good brand presence overview.

The platform provides:

- Brand coverage: How visible your brand is vs. competitors across all AI engines

- Total brand mentions: Raw frequency count compared to competitors

- Average brand position: Ranking in AI recommendations (1st, 2nd, 3rd brand mentioned)

- Visual mapping showing competitive positioning.

- Domain coverage: How often your website gets cited compared to competitors.

- Citation reports: Most cited URLs across all AI engines. 

How does Otterly AI's search visibility work?

The fundamental question here is: Does Otterly AI use APIs, or does it scrape the actual web interfaces of AI platforms?

Based on the research evidence, Otterly AI uses API-based web scraping methodologies rather than direct API access.

I did not find this function in any other AI search visibility tool I reviewed so far.

Otterly AI sources information directly from live AI search platforms rather than relying on cached or historical data.

The platform monitors six primary AI search engines:

  • Google AI Overviews - Google's AI-powered search summaries

For brands tracking rapidly evolving topics or responding to PR situations, this lag is problematic. Competitors like GetMentioned offer daily updates, providing more timely insights for strategic decision-making.

What do I think about Otterly AI's data quality? 

I trust them, but I'm also aware that Otterly AI is just a tool that provides a data interpretation. As such, I find their data useful, but I do not expect them to be bulletproof (I have the same feeling with all the AI search visibility tools).  

Is Otterly AI's data sufficient for me to make content marketing decisions? Yes, and I'm happy with that. 

What would I improve in Otterly AI's visibility tool?

Actionable insights. You receive the report, which is the best one I have found so far, but you miss a clear direction on what to do. Still, credits must be given to the Otterly team as they have the most detailed GEO auditing tool in the €200/mo price range. 

Brand sentiment: It is quite strange that Otterly AI does not offer this metric while the majority of other established competitors do. 

How is Otterly AI's user experience?

After a few hours of usage, I find the user experience to be mixed: simple setup but more complex ongoing usage.

What works:

- Professional-looking charts and graphs
- Color-coded metrics for quick scanning
- Toggleable filters for platform-specific analysis

What doesn't:

- Too many disconnected table charts without narrative flow
- Related information fragmented across multiple reports (Brand Report, Citation Report, Domain Ranking)
- No clear hierarchy: you're left scrolling to find what you need
- Data dumps without interpretation: the tool assumes you know what to do with the information

While the visual design is clean, the information architecture needs work. Multiple users report the interface as "clunky," and after extended use, I understand why.

The tool provides comprehensive data but lacks the organizational structure to make that data immediately actionable.

Here's what I think about Otterly AI's pricing:

Otterly AI is almost in the Peec AI league ($189 vs €199/mo) for the Pro Plan.

Otterly costs less, but it also offers a more detailed site audit tool. The rest is basically the same. 

The advantage of Peec AI is that it offers a sentiment metric, although there are not many more details other than a number.

We also have Scalenut, which offers great value for its price if all you need is an AI search visibility tool (it costs around €100 to track 150 prompts over 3 AI search engines). 

Here's my opinion about Otterly AI's pricing: It's average compared to competitors.
